Riding Out the Recession: Fully Comprehensive Motorbike Insurance the Most Popular Says Swinton

Competitive Van Insurance

The credit crunch and impending recession will undoubtedly affect many businesses, take a positive approach and make full advantage of insurance companies competing for your business.

Insurance for vans has never been more competitive, insurers are all offering great deals and cheap van insurance, however, make sure you read the small print to get the best deals and cover for your needs. Your van is your business, thinking that you will save money by choosing not to insure the van and its contents is not only illegal it is foolhardy. Loss or damage to your van or tools and your business will be ruined.

Using a van for work is one of the practical and cost effective means of transport around, if tools are your livelihood you simply cannot afford to have them stolen or damaged and spend days trying to find replacements, tool insurance cover will give peace of mind that your tools or hired tools are protected in your van 24/7.

If you use your van for courier or haulage contracts then additional Goods In Transit, GIT, is a must. You will simply have to inform the insurers what you are carrying and its value, some insurers also include cover for driving in the European Union, so hopping across the Channel is no problem. Check out the cover being offered as not all insurers include haulage without extra premiums.

With so many TV ads telling everyone to make claims for injury and damages any discerning company with a van simply cannot overlook this part of an insurance quote. Public and Products Insurance can save an awful lot of hassle and grieve, without this type of insurance you will be liable to pay the full amount of a claim made against you if a person is given an award due to injury or damages caused by you or your products so is well worth considering including this type of protection in your insurance.

The smaller and lighter the van the cheaper the insurance will be, having a vehicle which is less than 3.5 tonnes are typically given budget deals. The age of the van will also be taken into consideration by the insurers, the newer the van the cheaper the insurance will be.

In the unfortunate event of your van being stolen, breaking down or being involved in an accident with significant damage, insurance which includes or the option for a courtesy van will keep you and your business on the road.

There are some positive steps which can be taken to help further reduce the cost of van insurance, having a company logo on the side of your van, fitting an immobiliser and alarm are often taken into consideration by insurers, many will also enable you to transfer your no claims discount from other vehicles to your van to help save even further.

Although all of these additional considerations may appear simply to be putting up the cost of your insurance, there are many insurers offering fantastic cheap van insurance at the moment. Simply make a point of reading the small print to ensure that the insurance policy is right for you and your business needs.

Damage Insurance
If an insurance company estimated the damage on my car at $800 and I later find out it is way more can I go ba?

My car got hit, their insurance company sent me to a mechanic shop to get an estimate, they said $823 and the insurance sent me the check. I just took the car to the dealership and they said the damage was $3100, can I go back to the insurance and ask for the difference?

Take the car to what ever shop you want to have repair the damage.

Give them a copy of the estimate the insurance company used to pay you.

When your shop of choice tears the car down….if they find additional damage – the repair shop will call the adjuster and let them know. Depending on the amount of the supplement, the insurance company may send the appraiser back out to inspect the car. Since the shop will have torn the car down, the appraiser will have a better time seeing all the damage. The appraiser will write an estimate for the additional damage (supplement) and the insurance company will issue payment. The supplement check is often issued directly to the repair shop.

If your question is can I get a supplement paid but I have no intention of fixing my car and just want to pocket the 2277? No. The insurance company will stand by the first estimate unless the car is taken to a repair shop and repairs are done. The first estimate is considered valid and they will stand by that one until repairs on the car show that more is needed.
